Compressibility

Compressibility:

  • Solids are incompressible, that is, the volume of a solid cannot be increased or decreased by reducing or increasing pressure upon it. However, a loaf, a piece of bread or a sponge is an exception. It has air spaces within, which makes it easily compressible.
  • Liquids can be compressed only to a small extend, that is, they are almost incompressible.
